West’s Pressure on Syria and Iran Won’t Prevent them from Defending Region’s Security and Stability

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad and Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif stressed in a meeting on Monday that the pressure put on Syria and Iran by the western countries won’t prevent the two countries from pressing ahead with defending their principles and the interests of the peoples in the two countries as well as the security and stability in the entire region.

Talks during the meeting focused on the latest developments in Syria and the region as well as on the agenda of the tripartite summit between Russia, Iran and Turkey scheduled to be held in Iran within the coming few days. View points were identical on all discussed issues.

The two sides pointed out that the western countries’ policy of threats and pressure against the Syrian and Iranian peoples reflects the failure of these countries to achieve their schemes in this region after Syria and Iran have confronted them.

They expressed satisfaction over the level of relations between the two countries in all fields and agreed on continuous consultations and coordination in the light of accelerating regional and international developments.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem, the Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad, Iran’s Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Jaberi Ansari and some diplomats from both countries.
