West Dreams of Weak Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Several initiatives have been proposed, allegedly aiming to solve the crisis in Syria. The United States and a number of Arab governments like Jordan and Kuwait have adopted, in the media of course, a plan to attain a “peaceful solution” to the crisis in the country under international supervision and based on dialogue. US President Barack Obama, during the inauguration ceremony of his second presidential term, also mentioned such a settlement plan, according to Mustafa al-Miqdad, Deputy Chairman of the Journalist Union.

In an article recently published in the local “al-Thawra” daily, al-Miqdad asked “what kind of peace and what sort of future the West wants for Syria?

“One doesn’t need much effort to conclude that the future Syria, according to the American vision, is embodied in a weak state led by puppet personalities made abroad at Western intelligence systems, and by a group of agents who have betrayed their homeland and served the interests of the West and the Zionist entity. The image of new Syria, as designed by the U.S., is more ugly and humiliating than that designed and implemented in other countries like Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and Morocco.”

He added the West wants to see Syria as a subordinating state and as a part of the “development projects” designed for the region

This is the Syria, the U.S. and countries of the West are dreaming of and are backing every initiative helping them achieve this target, al-Miqdad said.

On the other hand, he went on to say, “the hoped-for Syria, according to all the Syrians, is a sort of a strong state which adheres to national rights, staunchly defends Arab causes and supports the Palestinian people’s struggle to restore their legitimate right to return to their homeland and establish their independent state with al-Quds as a capital.”

Al-Miqdad clarified that this objective won’t be achieved in Syria except under a strong leadership which believes in the rights of the nation and understands Syria’s cultural and historical role in carrying the torch of human civilization for ages.

He pointed out that the proposed national political program emerges as the only and the best solution for attaining the hoped-for settlement in Syria, particularly after the international Community had admitted that clashes in Syria were never based on public demands, but were a pretext to facilitate the infiltration of al-Qaeda fighters into the country in order to build the Syria the foreign parties want.

Al-Miqdad concluded by stressing that “the implementation of the national reform solution plan is underway aiming to build the future of our own homeland and foil conspirators’ schemes.”
