Tehran, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh affirmed that his country had achieved a great victory by lifting the arms embargo and ending the 13-year boycott.
Khatibzadeh stressed during a press conference today that Iran is committed to defending its sovereignty and has not changed its defense programs and policies during the past years.
Khatibzadeh indicated that his country opposes the deployment of weapons in the region and refuses to expand its military arsenals there.
He pointed out that the United States has not changed its aggressive policies against the Iranian people.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the day before yesterday the end of the international arms embargo on Tehran, indicating that this would allow Iran to import and export arms and conduct related financial transactions in accordance to its defense policies.
