Ways to strengthen cooperation between Syria and Algeria in the field of energy discussed

Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Firas Kaddour and the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Syria and Algeria in the field of energy and mines.

During their meeting in Algiers today, the Ministers reviewed opportunities of cooperation and investment between the two countries’ companies in the fuel sector, as well as ways and means of exchanging experiences between the Algerian company Sonatrch and the Syrian oil companies.

They also addressed opportunities of cooperation and investment in the production and distribution of electricity, maintenance and exchange of experiences, as well as the identification of existing opportunities for cooperation in the marketing of petroleum and oil products and the exchange of experiences in the mine sector.

The Ministers expressed the common desire of both countries to strengthen their cooperation in many areas of mutual interest and expressed their desire to continue with talks and meetings of the joint technical task teams, with the aim of implementing these projects on the ground and sharing experiences in these areas.

During his current visit to Algeria, Kaddour and the accompanying delegation are due to meet with officials of the Sonatrchs and Sonelgaz complexes and Algeria’ Mines, as well as some energy installations as part of discussing ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the areas of oil research and exploration and in the field of gas, mines and petroleum products.
