The minister of Water Resources in the caretaker government, Osama Abu Zeid, received the director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Czech Foreign Ministry, Peter Hladek, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry today .
The two sides discussed the reality of drinking water and the destruction of water pumping stations in Syria and how to face these challenges and upgrade the infrastructure again, with the help of international donor organizations and friends around the world.
Minister Abu Zeid explained during the meeting that the needs and difficulties are great at the current stage, pointing out that the ministry monitors the required need and is working on preparing studies to equip the stations with solar energy systems operating with (On Grid) system and aspires to introduce modern technology to irrigation and drinking water systems to contribute to rationalizing water consumption and reducing waste.
For his part, Mr. Peter Hladek stressed that the Czech government previously supported and will now support the Syrian people, who suffered from injustice, oppression and displacement, pointing out that his country will provide humanitarian assistance directly.
He said: “what we saw during our visit to many areas and different water pumping stations indicates the extent of the damage caused and what we have to provide to the Syrian government and to this sector specifically.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. “Hladek” expressed his hope to exchange experiences between the two countries in the future and learn about the experiences of the Czech government in the field of processing desalination pumping stations, noting that his country is working hard to contribute to the lifting of sanctions on Syria to overcome its plight and achieve security and stability in the region.
