Water back to Aleppo after ISIS cutoff

Aleppo – Water has been pumped back to Aleppo from al-Khafseh station in the eastern part of the province following a 48-day cut after ISIS terrorists stopped water supplies, Director General of Aleppo Water Establishment announced on Friday.

Mustafa Malhis said that “great efforts” were made by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to restore water supply, SANA reported.

The work, he noted, included repairing Ein al-Beideh station and coordination with the parties on the ground.

Malhis noted that water is now being temporarily pumped into the course of the Queiq River until water drawing canals are cleansed in order to later pump clean water to neighborhoods and residential areas.
