Washington spent $ 27 million to Train ” Syrian Opposition”

WASHINGTON,(ST) _ Aides in the U.S. Congress announced that  some US $ 27 million were spent  on the U.S. program to train “fighters of the Syrian opposition” in Turkey so far and that  more than 800 people were  trained in a move that reflects Washington ‘s  involvement in providing direct support to the armed terrorist groups that shed the blood of the Syrians.

Reuters quoted the aide as saying that one U.S. lawmakers and his staff recently asked for more information before agreeing additional  1.3 million dollars for the program that began months ago in Turkey.

On Monday,  U.S. President Barack Obama reiterated in a statement reported by the White House  Washington ‘s “commitment” to provide support to the so-called “coalition of the Syrian opposition and the Supreme Military Council”, which represent the armed terrorist groups that practice killing and destruction against the Syrian people.

Earlier on Monday, a senior U.S. official said that the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama “has made progress in overcoming objections of legislators” on its plans for arming “the Syrian opposition,” adding that ” there are still some  details.” That should be settled.

Reuters also  quoted the official, who did not give his name as saying that “the members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which  questioned the wisdom of the decision to arm the opposition fighters , agreed the administration moves to proceed  forward with its plans, but asked to be informed  with developments of the secret operation .”

The United States calls  “opposition fighters”, those  terrorists in Syria who receive support from it and from other  Arab  and foreign countries .

Worthy mentioning that  al- Qaeda-linked  al-Nusra Front constitutes the backbone of these terrorist groups which  , the  U.S. administration said it included on the list of terrorism.
