Washington must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq, says Iranian Foreign Ministry

Tehran, (ST) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the American aggression on sites of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, stressing that it is a clear example of terrorism.

“The United States must respect the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Iraq and stop interfering in its internal affairs,” said ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi in a statement today quoted by the IRNA news agency.

Mousavi added that “This aggression demonstrated once again the falsehood of the US claims to fight the terrorist Takfiri terrorist organization,” stressing that America revealed this aggression by its strong support for terrorism, ignoring the independence and sovereignty of states.

Mousavi stressed that America should bear responsibility for the consequences of this illegal act, indicating at the same time that the presence of foreign forces in the region is the cause of insecurity and instability in it.

The People’s Mobilization Committee in Iraq announced yesterday that sites belonging to them had bombed by American planes marching west of Al-Anbar Governorate, resulting in deaths and injuries among members of the brigades 45 and 46.
