DAMASCUS, (ST)-The aggressive practices of the illegal US-led coalition in Syria, since its establishment, have served the creation of a suitable environment for the expansion of Daesh terrorist organizatuon, the Ministry of Foreign Affaris and Expatriates said on Saturday in a letter to the UN Chief and President of the Security Council.
The letter dealt with the crimes being perpetrated in Syria by the illigitimate international coalition led by Washington. The leatest of these crimes was committed in al-Kishkiyeh and al-Sha’fa villages in Deir Ezzor southeastern countryside where scores of civilians were martyred and many houses were destroyed.
These crimes uncover the hypocrisy and lies about the coalition’s real intention of it military operations in Syria; operations which Washington has been claiming that they are targeting Daesh terror organization, while in fact, the coalition’s airstrikes have targeted mainly residential areas.
The colition’s incessant crimes against Syrian civilians and the destruction of the Syrians’ houses and means of livelihood affirm the need to decisively confront the coalition member countries’ disregard to UN Charter, the Security Council and the rules of the International law, said the ministry in its letter.
The ministry pointed out that a few days ago, the US-led coalition, itself, officially acknowledged that it killed more than 1500 Syrian civilians in airstrikes in Syria’s eastern region, despite the fact that the real number of victims of the caoltion’s attacks is far more than this.
It called on the countries memebr in this coalition to immediately withdraw from it and uncover its real gaols. It also urged dissolving the coalition and doing what is necessary to stop this killing machine.
It renewed its call on the Security Council to assume its responsibilites, to act immediately to stop the coalition’s massacres and systematic destruction of the Syrian infrastructure and to punish perpetrators.
The ministry conclued by saying that Syria reiterates that the Security Council’s silence over such crimes and their perpetrators as well as its non commitment to its responsibility to preserve international peace and security, by preventing war crimes being perpetrated by the coalition in cold blood and on a daily basis, will lead to deepening the culture of escaping punishment which is a worrying issue that will completely undermine the reputation and credibility of the Security Coucil and UN General Assembly.
