RAQQA, ((ST)- The so-called US-led coalition’s warplanes have renewed airstrikes against residential areas in the Syrian city of Raqqa and its countryside. The airstrikes killed 20 people and wounded tens of others all of them are civilians.
Local and media sources said that “the coalition’s warplanes launched violent airstrikes on residential buildings in al-Msherfeh area to the north of Raqqa. The attack claimed the lives of 20 people, wounded many others and caused huge damage in the site.”
According to the source, the number of martyrs may rise due to serious injuries.
Since August 2014, the United States has been leading an international coalition allegedly to fight “Daesh” terrorist organization in Iraq and Syria. It has carried out thousands of raids, but failed to stop the expansion of the extremist organization or achieve any achievement on ground because of the lack of seriousness about fighting terrorism and because the coalition didn’t coordinate its strikes with the governments of the two countries.
The illegal coalition, since its establishment, has committed several massacres against the Syrians in Manbej, al-Ghandoura, Tokhan al-Kubra and Dabeq areas in northern Aleppo countryside and in Boukmal in Deri Ezzour eastern countryside and in several areas in Raqqa. Hundreds of innocent people were martyred and wounded in these crimes.
Russia: raids unacceptable and should be harshly condemned
In Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US-led coalition’s airstrikes against civilian targets in northern Raqqa.
“These reports cause great concern … missile and bombing raids targeting and killing ordinary Syrians are unacceptable and should be harshly condemned. It’s hard to accept “mistakes” or “negligence” as an explanation widely used by those who came to Syria without an invitation,” a Russian Foreign Ministry statement said on Thursday.
