Washington-Led Coalition Acknowledges Its Airstrikes Purportedly against Daesh in Syria, Iraq Led to Civilian Deaths
WASHINGTON, (ST)- The US-led coalition again acknowledged that its airstrikes carried out allegedly against Daesh in Syria and Iraq have led to civilian casualties
Washington, which has been leading an illegal international coalition without the approval of the Security Council since 2014, claims that it is fighting terrorism in Syria, while several incidents on ground prove that this coalition has been attacking Syrian infrastructure and committing massacres against civilians.
Media outlets quoted the Coalition forces’ Central Command as saying in a statement on Friday that a total of 727 civilians were killed in the strikes between August 2014 and May 2017, while the documented number of civilians casualties is 145.”
Last month, Washington-led coalition acknowledged that at least 484 civilians have been killed as a result of the coalition’s airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014. This indicates the state of confusion within the coalition and reveals an attempt to hide the real number of civilian deaths caused by the coalition’s airstrikes.
The estimate of civilian deaths comes as independent monitors have time and again challenged such reports and revealed that the US-led military campaign has significantly inflicted more civilian casualties.
Airwars, a UK-based non-profit monitoring group, has recently documented the killing of at least 2358 civilians in coalition airstrikes.
