Washington is obsessed with the idea of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, says Antonov

Washington, (ST) – The Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov confirmed that Washington is obsessed with the idea of inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Russia. He added that US is pursuing various means to achieve this matter.

Commenting on the $350 million new military dispatch package destined for the Kiev regime, TASS quoted Antonov as saying: “With these steps, the US administration is only pushing extremists in Kiev to commit new atrocities and causing the expansion of the Ukrainian conflict, with the aim of satisfying its obsession with inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia.”

Antonov added that with every batch of US military aid to Kiev, the regime of Vladimir Zelensky feels more and more impeccable, and therefore will continue to kill civilians in the Russian regions of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson, with sheer cynicism.”

Antonov said that the United States does not take into cobsideration that by these actions it increases the fuel of the conflict and causes its expansion, indicating that this policy poses a ghreat to security in all of Europe and escalates the danger of direct confrontation between Russia and NATO.

Antonov called on the American leadership to stop fueling the conflict in Ukraine and refrain from making public statements about the appropriateness or futility of entering into negotiations, because in the end the decision on this issue is not up to the Americans.

The Russian embassy in Washington criticized the allegations contained in the annual report of the US State Department on the situation of human rights in the world, and said in a statement: “We categorically reject the accusations against our country and consider them fabricated and unrealistic, and we call on the US authorities to stop politicizing the human rights file and using it as a pretext to interfere in our internal affairs and the work of the competent Russian authorities”.
