Wars against Syria and DPRK Aim at Weakening Countries Which have Independent Decision

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that despite the difference between the wars and pressures facing Syria and the Democratic Popular Republic of Korea (DPRK), these wars have same the goal, which is weakening the countries which possess their independent decision and stand against western schemes. He has affirmed that these wars aim at  redrawing the world map.

 President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting on Tuesday with the DPRK’s Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho and the accompanying delegation.

Talks focused on historical friendship between the two countries and ways of enhancing bilateral ties in all fields.

President Al-Assad said that the American hostility to all independent states has no geographic limits, affirming that the defeats of western schemes and the steadfastness of independent states, like Syria and the Democratic Popular Republic of Korea and several other countries, can make a change and restore balance to the international arena.

The guest official conveyed a message from President of the DPRK Kim Jong Un stressing his country’s firm support for Syria and congratulations on the victories being achieved  by the Syrian Arab army over terrorism. He also expressed confidence in Syria’s success in the reconstruction process, as this process will be build on strong bases represented by the country’s military and political achievements.

Ri Yong-ho explained to President Al-Assad the principles on which the DPRK’s foreign policy is based, pointing out that Democratic Korea, Syria and all the countries which refuse hegemony and foreign interference policies, are all facing the same enemy, so coordination is necessary and should be increased between these countries as to confront enemies’ schemes.

Earlier, Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem held a meeting with Ri Yong-ho and the accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed means to consolidate bilateral relations, mainly in the political and economic domains. The meeting focused on the need to maintain coordination in international forums to support the two countries’ just causes and confront the challenges and the brutal economic sanctions which seek undermining the sovereignty and independent decisions of Syria and the DPRK.

Talks also dealt with the situation in Syria and the region, East Asia, and Southeast Asia, in addition to the Syrian Arab Army’s achievements in the fight against terrorism.
