War and peace through Syrian children’s eyes
The ‘Martyr’ Institute and the Russian Development and Cooperation Center held Saturday an exhibition entitled ‘War and Peace through children’s eyes’.
The exhibition, which was held within the activities of the ‘Homeland’s Flag’ Festival in the cultural center in Marmaretta area in Homs province, included 80 paintings by Homs children, who had won prizes for those works in Russia four months ago.
The children, aged between 8 and 14, depicted in their paintings the effects of war and destruction and used the Syrian flag to reflect victory, according to the official news agency (SANA).
The agency quoted Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi as saying- in the opening ceremony of the exhibition held on the occasion of launching the ‘Martyr’ Institute- that the ‘Homeland’s Flag’ festival aims to rebuild the society.
The governor underlined the importance of the NGO’s support for the government’s efforts to rebuild the society by youths and the local society.
On her part, Director of the ‘Martyr’ Institute’s office in Wadi al-Nadara Mrs. Hala Hwish clarified that the activity of launching the institute included sculpture exhibition, the ‘War and Peace through children’s eyes’ exhibition, honoring ceremony for martyrs and concert.
The sculpture exhibition included about 60 works by the artist Iyad Blal depicting human values and important figures that played key role in Syria’s history.
Representative of the Russian Development and Cooperation Center Mr. Wael Malas said that children from different areas in Homs province took part in the art exhibition and they exposed their suffering from the unjust war and the situation of the displaced persons.
Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war has been waged on Syria targeting its people, army, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with the US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the region and to have hegemony over its wealth.
About 360.000 foreign terrorists from 93 countries came to fight against the Syrians from April 2011 till January 2016, according to the German Firil Center for Studies. While media reports have confirmed that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, the U.S., France, Britain and Israel support – by all means-terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
