DAMASCUS- “Syria is proceeding in the right direction regarding terrorism fighting,” stressed Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Sunday while commenting on the process of uncovering and arresting perpetrators and masterminds of the terrorist attack which targeted him last year.
In phone contact with the Syrian “Al-Ekhbariyya” TV, al-Halqi said the process “proves that Syria is proceeding in the right direction concerning terrorism fighting to uproot the terrorism which has claimed the lives of so many innocent people in Syria after terrorists had infiltrated into the country coming from 83 countries.”
The premier affirmed that the “Syrian Arab Army is achieving more victories on armed terrorist Wahhabi groups and will eliminate terrorism wherever it is in the country,” clarifying that the Wahhabi, takfiri thinking has no future in Syria.
On April 29th, 2013, Al-Halqi survived an assassination attempt with a car bomb parked near a garden in Mezza, Damascus. The terrorist attack claimed scores of lives and caused material damage.
Concerning the second round of Geneva2 Conference talks, the prime minister said the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic went to Geneva carrying the same message which seeks ending the crisis in Syria through national dialogue.
He called for unifying all efforts to make the dialogue a success, in order to attain a peaceful solution to the crisis in the country and build renewable Syria.
The premier said national reconciliation among the Syrians was fruitful in all Syrian provinces, stressing that the coming days will witness more successes in this regard.
“What is happening in Homs proves that the Syrian government is honest regarding steps taken to complete national reconciliation,” he added, pointing out that the government has evacuated more than 600 people, including women, children and elderly, who were besieged by the armed terrorist groups in old Homs.
Al-Halqi reiterated the government’s keenness to evacuate besieged people in all the areas under terrorists’ control, pointing out that some parties don’t want these reconciliation efforts to succeed.
He urged the displaced Syrians, staying in the refugee camps in neighboring countries, to return home and rid themselves from the political, economic and moral exploitation practiced against them there.
