Visiting Russian Delegation: By Confronting Terrorism Syria is Defending the Entire World

DAMASCUS, (ST)- A Russian popular delegation comprising intellectuals, researchers, journalists and political experts in addition to head of the Syrian Community in Russia Wael Junaid  is currently on a visit to Syria to voice support for the Syrian people in the face of the ongoing terrorist war.

Syrians won’t forget Russia’s support

During her meeting with the guest delegation Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas said the Syrian people won’t forget Russia’s political, economic and military support for Syria in confrontation of terrorism and foreign schemes.

 She hailed the Russian veto against the French draft resolution on Syria at the UN Security Council session yesterday, noting that the draft aimed at destabilizing the region and at supporting terrorists in Syria.

 Head of the delegation Leonid Isayev asserted that “by confronting terrorism the Syrian people are not only defending their country but the entire world.”

 He added that the Russian state has principles to follow in its foreign policy. It spares no effort at all international forums to affirm the need to respect states’ sovereignty and not to interfere in their internal affairs.

Members of the delegation underscored the importance of enhancing parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.

Mufti: Moscow’s Support for Syria is one of reasons behind  Western sanctions on Russia

The Russian guest delegation also had the opportunity to meet Syria’s Grand Mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun.

 The Mufti, during the meeting,  stressed that “Russia’s support for Syria against global terrorism and western conspiracy is a support for the values of truth, justice and peace”.

This Russian support has been one of the reasons behind the economic sanctions and the media war being waged against Moscow by the West, mainly the United States, according to Hassoun.

On his part, Isayev said that the victories being achieved by the Syrian Arab Army, supported by Syria’s friends and allies, against terrorism have become evident to the entire world, noting that cooperation between Syria and Russia in the fight against a common enemy, which is terrorism, will inevitably lead to victory.
