Viewpoints of Syrian, Czech Officials Identical on Need to Lift Unfair EU Sanctions against Syria: Al-Mikdad
PRAGUE, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad has stressed that the viewpoints of the Syrian and Czech officials were identical on the need to put an end to the terrorist war against Syria and to lift the unfair economic sanctions imposed by the European Union on the Syrian people.
In a statement to SANA at the end of his visit to the Czech Republic, al-Mikdad said that all the Czech officials whom he met expressed their hope that peace and security will be restored to Syria soon to help the country continue playing its leading role in the region.
Today, Al-Mikdad held talks with Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Yan Mladic and with the leadership of the Czech Industry and Transport Union. The talks dealt with bilateral ties, the participation of the Czech Republic in Syria’s reconstruction efforts and means to enhance economic, trade, cultural and social cooperation.
He said his visit to Prague and his talks with Czech political, parliamentary and economic figures were fruitful and they would reflect positively on cooperation between the two countries and on the reconstruction process in Syria.
The deputy Foreign minister hailed the Czech stance on the crisis in Syria, explaining that the Czech Republic didn’t take part in the EU sanctions against Syria or in the support provided by some EU countries to terrorist organizations in the country.
Al-Mikdad expected improvement of relations between Syria and some European countries, hailing the visit of the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini to the Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation to Geneva intra-Syria dialogue during which she stressed her support for the talks aiming to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
