Victory in Yabroud Enhances Army’s Achievements in Qalamoun

DAMASCUS- (ST)-The Syrian Arab Army is now totally controlling the city of Yabroud in Damascus Countryside and carrying a mop-up operation to remove the explosives devices and mines placed by the terrorists in different parts of the city, according to a military sources.

The source told SANA on Sunday that Syrian Army units progressed inside Yabroud after forcing the foreign-backed takfiri terrorist groups to flee the area.

The source stressed the great collapse within the ranks of the armed terrorist groups, pointing out that many terrorists were killed and wounded in the clashes.

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces issued a statement on Sunday saying that “following a qualitative military operation, Syrian Army units in cooperation with national defense forces restored security and stability to the city of Yabroud and the surrounding areas in the northern countryside of Damascus after eliminating many terrorists and mercenaries who were fortifying in the city and who used it as a crossing to allow the access of weapons and terrorists to other areas inside Syria.”

The army units continue to hunt the terrorists who have fled the area, the General Command said.

“This new achievement, which led to a great collapse within the ranks of the terrorist groups, enhances the army’s successes in Qalamoun area.  It is an important step to secure the border areas between Syria and Lebanon, cut off supply routes and tighten the siege on terrorists’ strongholds in Damascus countryside. It also contributes to securing the international road between the southern and central regions of Syria,” the General Command added. 

Defeating terrorism in Yabroud is a smashing blow to terrorists and their supporters”, the General Command said, stressing the army’s strong determination to uproot terrorism, rid the homeland of terrorists and restore security and stability to every inch of the Syrian land.
