Vershinin, Griffiths review ways of providing humanitarian assistance to Syria without politicization
MOSCOW, Jun.28, (ST)- The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, discussed with Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations Martin Griffiths the ways of providing humanitarian assistance to Syria without politicization.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published today on its website that Vershinin and Griffiths discussed during a phone call carried out yesterday , the issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council, including the provision of providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Syria without politicization, discrimination or preconditions in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law.
The statement indicated that the two sides reviewed the current situation in Ukraine, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and they focused on solving urgent humanitarian problems, noting that they paid special attention to issues of ensuring world food security, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The Russian side reiterated its readiness to fulfill its obligations, particularly the ones regarding the export of grain and fertilizers, which prohibited today by illegal unilateral sanctions, and the insurance of the safe export of Ukrainian wheat.
