Vershinin: Astana formula has been the most effective way to settle the crisis in Syria

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin affirmed that the meetings within the Astana formula on the crisis in Syria will continue later, but the date and place of the next meeting have not been determined yet.

“The Astana formula was and still is the most effective for achieving a long-term settlement of the crisis in Syria, and we are still doing a lot within this formula, and the list of tasks is expanding,”. Vershinin further noted that there will be a new meeting within Astana format, but the location and date have not been determined yet.

On the other hand, Vershinin ruled out that grain shipments across the Black Sea would be carried out without security guarantees.

Vershinin said, “Russia and Turkey are continuing contacts regarding the grain and food supply deal, but without the distortions that previously hindered the implementation of the first agreement, which has expired.”
