Vershinin and Hadi: The necessity of providing humanitarian aid to the Syrians without politicizing

Moscow (ST): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and United Nations Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria Muhannad Hadi stressed the need to deliver humanitarian aid to all those in need in Syria without politicization or discrimination and in coordination with the Syrian government.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Vershinin met Hadi yesterday evening and the two sides discussed objectively the current situation on the ground in Syria, with emphasis on the need to provide comprehensive humanitarian assistance to all Syrians in need without discrimination, politicization, or preconditions in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law, including coordination with the Syrian government and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state.

The statement added that special attention was given to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2585, which provides, among other things, to the establishment of a mechanism for the delivery of aid to all parts of Syria from Damascus and the implementation of projects for the early reconstruction of civilian infrastructure and to mitigate the impact of illegal unilateral measures that obstruct the solution.
