Venezuelan Foreign Minister: UN member states seriously consider reforming the United Nations

New York (ST): Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto considered that there is a serious position on the part of the member states of the United Nations on the issue of reforming the United Nations organization to make it more useful and effective.

Pinto said in an interview with Sputnik on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly: “We have already witnessed an atmosphere of serious skepticism in the United Nations system and the need to make it more useful and more effective as to overcome the stagnation that led it to losing the ability to ensure respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter.”

Pinto indicated that he found absolute support in the United Nations General Assembly regarding the issue of abandoning unilateral sanctions and coercive measures against his country.

The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly began on September 19 under the slogan “Rebuilding Trust and Bridges of Global Solidarity.”
