Venezuela: “Deal of the century” deprives Palestinians of their legitimate rights

Caracas, (ST) – The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its categorical rejection of the so-called “deal of the century” as it is an expansion and arbitrary plan that deprives the Palestinian people of their rights and contradicts the basic rules of international law.

An official statement issued by the Venezuelan government confirmed that this plan presented by the US President Donald Trump’s administration is “unequal, unjust, biased, and illegal, and it aims to grant unilateral recognition of the illegal settlements that Israel has built on the Palestinian territories and arbitrarily include lands that belong absolutely in accordance with the United Nations resolutions to the State of Palestine.

The statement expressed the full solidarity of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with the people and authority of the State of Palestine, calling on the international community to urgently activate the multilateral mechanisms necessary to avoid the unexpected consequences that may result from imposing this plan.
The statement added that Venezuela has always defended, through Bolivarian peace diplomacy, the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state within the borders established by the United Nations Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 242 issued on June 4, 1967.
