Venezuela, Cuba Condemn Cowardly Israeli Assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

CARACAS, HAVANA  (ST)- Venezuela has condemned in the strongest terms the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah during the brutal Israeli attack on residential buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut  which caused widespread destruction and the martyrdom of a large number of civilians.

Telesur reported that the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry called on world leaders to take immediate action to stop this dangerous Israeli terrorist escalation, and renewed the expression of “deep feelings of sympathy, brotherhood and solidarity with the Lebanese people and the commitment to fulfilling the humanitarian duty in this difficult situation.”

The ministry warned that the Israeli entity and the United States, through managing fake peace negotiations and endless deceptive diplomatic maneuvers, are resorting to organizing and implementing “horrific plans to assassinate political leaders as well as innocent civilians, including in Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank and now in Lebanon, which threatens to spread the escalation to other countries in the Middle East.”

The statement explained that this new “bloody operation” that was carried out in several towns in the region continues to reveal the face of barbarism committed by “Israel,” stressing that it is “a brutal practice of killing that has been carried out over decades and has escalated against the people of Palestine in the past year and has recently spread to Lebanon.”

The statement stressed that the Venezuelan government “once again condemns in front of the international community the policy of extermination pursued by Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of terrorism in the 21st century in the Middle East,” who continues with his obsession and unbridled madness to escalate against the Palestinian people.

For his part, the Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel condemned the cowardly assassination of  Nasrallah, stressing that the Israeli crimes constitute a serious threat to regional and global peace and security, and that Israel is fully responsible for this in collusion with the United States of America.
