Tehran- Iran believes that restoration of peace and stability in Syria and Lebanon would help restore security to the entire region, top adviser of the Iranian Revolution Supreme Leader for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said on Sunday, according to IRNA.
Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with Special Representative of United Nations Secretary-General to Lebanon, Sigrid Kaag.
On the humanitarian crisis in Syria, Velayati said as declared for many times at different occasions Iran believes that the issue in Syria should be resolved through political means and there is no room for any “military solution”.
The situation in Lebanon can affect the current political circumstances so establishing peace and stability there and reconstructing the country will positively affect the region, according to Velayati.
“The people of Lebanon have experienced many ups and downs in war and peace time and now they enjoy invaluable cultural characteristics among the Arab nations,” he said.
UN envoy, for her part, acknowledged the comments made by Velayati and said the current situation in Lebanon and Beirut is every unique and the status of nation and ethnic groups are very remarkable.
