Valayati: Foreign troops, illegally present in Syria, must leave the country

TEHRAN, (ST)- Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader for international affairs, has stressed that the foreign troops, which are illegally present on the Syrian territories must leave Syria, affirming the need to maintain Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During his meeting on Saturday with Syria’s Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud, Velayati reiterated the need to end the American occupation of Syrian lands and to stop its crimes of looting Syria’s oil and national resources that blatantly violate the International law, the UN Charter and the principle of national sovereignty.

Velayati underlined the importance of  enhancing economic cooperation between Iran, Syria and neighboring countries in order to confront the unfair American and western economic blockade.

On his part, Ambassador Mahmoud affirmed the need for cooperation between Syria, Iran as well as allies and friends to surpass the repercussions of the economic terrorism being practiced against Syria.
