Ushakov: Crisis in the Middle East, food security and energy are among the most important issues to be discussed at BRICS summit
Moscow, (ST)-Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov confirmed on Monday that the issues of the Middle East, food security and energy will be the focus of attention of 36 countries that will participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan.
Sputnik Agency quoted Ushakov as saying in a statement: “We are anticipating the participation of representatives of 36 countries and leaders of 6 international organizations, and it can be said that leaders of 22 of these participating countries will attend the summit, meaning that 22 delegations will be represented at the summit at the highest level.”
He noted that many countries have expressed their desire for full membership in the BRICS group.
Ushakov explained that “Russia and Iran will agree in the near future on the date of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Moscow, during which a strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries will be signed.”
He indicated that “President Vladimir Putin will also hold bilateral talks with the presidents of Iran and Turkey on October 23 in Kazan, and that the leaders will discuss the mechanism for granting BRICS partner status, which will be a stage in preparing those wishing to become full members.”
