USA uses Veto in the UN Security Council

The United States used the “veto” in the UN Security Council against a draft resolution on the fate of foreign terrorists, under the pretext that it did not include a “clause” to return them to their countries of origin. This shows non agreement between Washington and its European allies.

France-Press agency reported that the draft resolution drawn up by Indonesia “a non-permanent member in the Security Council” had the approval of all members in the Council with the exception of the United States.

“The veto has become too cheap,” said a diplomat that asked not to be named stressing that Washington’s stance was very harmful to the relations between the countries of the Atlantic

On his part, Indonesia’s delegate to the United Nations, Dian Triansyah Djani, expressed during a press conference his regret for the non agreement to the draft resolution, adding that the draft resolution would have made the world safer. He also declared that his country sought to achieve a consensus in uniting the world against terrorism.

It is to be mentioned that the draft resolution urges members in the Security Council to reintegrate foreign terrorists into their societies after they have served the sentences issued against them in the countries in which they are detained.
