US won’t succeed in cutting off Iran’s ties with world: Rouhani

TEHRAN– Iranian President Rouhani said Tue. that the US will not succeed in cutting off Iran’s engagement with the world, adding that US attempt at isolating Iran will come with severe consequences.

The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks on Tuesday night in a cordial meeting with Iranians living in Austria, according to the Mehr News Agency.

He went on to add, “the Zionists, Americans and a few other countries have always sought to weaken or cut off, if possible, Iran’s ties with other countries in the world, but we always made efforts to foil this policy and introduce Iran in its rightful place as an effective country in regional and global developments.”

“The new US authorities have adopted an approach in stark contrast to international rules and regulations,” Rouhani said, adding “their opposition is not only against the Iran nuclear deal, but they have also left the UN Human Rights Council and UNESCO, and treat the Group of Seven, Palestine, and other Muslim states the same way as Iran.”

Rouhani went on to stress, however, that this is the first time that Washington’s plot against Iran has not garnered support from any other country expect for a few small ones.

“The US claims to be after cutting off Iran’s ties with the world, but it will never succeed in achieving that goal,” Rouhani said, adding “US is not the world’s absolute power.”

Rouhani then noted the EU’s explicit position against the US policies, adding “I am not saying that the US cannot make problems for Iran, but they will definitely fail to put their claim of cutting off Iran’s ties into action.”

“Iran’s progress has been an ongoing process before and after the JCPOA, and it will continue along the same path; the US may prolong the implementation of a project in Iran, but it cannot fully stop the project,” Rouhani said.

“The more pressure exerted on us by Washington, the more active we will become in the political and economic spheres,” Rouhani promised.
