US Sponsoring Regime Change in Venezuela: Analyst

The United Sates is obviously sponsoring regime change in Venezuela, according to American political analyst Keith Preston, Press TV reported.

Preston, who was speaking to Press TV on Tuesday, pointed out the regime change was Washington’s standard “mode of operation” in countries which resist serving US interests.

The director of Attackthesystem.com emphasized that in Latin America, particularly, US policy has been to install subservient puppet regimes.

“Historically, the United States has frequently organized military coups — or other types of political coups — against governments, or particular nations to which they were opposed … This is a standard mode of operation for the United States on foreign policy issues.”

Preston said Americans have always viewed Latin American countries as being in the United State sphere of domination.

By organizing a regime change and toppling the current government in Venezuela and installing a puppet regime in its place, Americans want to gain control over the oil-rich South American country’s vast mineral resources, according to Preston.

“Venezuela is an oil-rich country and the United States wants control over its oil wells,” Preston pointed out, adding that Washington wanted to install a puppet regime that was willing to carry out its demands.

Meanwhile, Americans are pushing hard to install opposition leader Juan Guaido, instead of President Nicolas Maduro.

EU warns US against military action on Venezuela

The European Union, according to Press TV, has cautioned the United States against taking military action against Venezuela, saying the Latin American country’s crisis has to be resolved through peaceful and political solutions.

“We believe that no military development, from inside or outside of the country, would be acceptable,” EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told a United Nations Security Council meeting on cooperation between the European Union and the UN on Tuesday.

“A solution cannot be, and should never be, imposed from the outside,” she asserted.

“The crisis that affects the country has political and institutional causes. It’s not a natural disaster. Its solution needs to be peaceful, political, and democratic,” said Mogherini.

The official also reminded that the bloc had set up a contact group with Latin American countries to push for a political process.

Venezuela’s Top Prosecutor Probes Juan Guaido over Electric Grid Attack

Venezuela’s Attorney General Tareck William Saab said that his Venezuelan Public Ministry has started an investigation against Juan Guaido, the lawmaker of the country’s National Assembly, which has been in contempt since 2016, over his participation in the recent sabotage to the electric grid system in Venezuela, according to Telesur.

The measure, which was reported to the Supreme Court of Justice, is meant to investigate whether the opposition lawmaker has acted as the mastermind behind the electric outage in the country that began last Thursday.

“We started a new investigation that joins the one that began on Jan. 29, against the citizen Juan Guaidó for his alleged participation in the attack on the electric system.” informed the country’s attorney.

William Saab said that these accusations add to those related to Guaido’s calls for criminal acts related to the “promotion of violence and even instigation of looting, there are messages inciting looting, robbery, with the excuse of economic needs of the population.”

“Electrical sabotage is not a casual occurrence, it is part of an increasingly desperate escalation to overthrow a legitimately constituted government,” the Venezuelan state official added during his speech.
