US missiles, if supplied to Kiev, to have no effect on military operation — Kremlin

MOSCOW, The United States’ speculations about the possible supply of longer-range missiles to Ukraine are fanning tensions and intensifying the escalation, but all this will not change the course of the special military operation. It will be continued, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Wednesday.

“Yes, this is a direct way of fanning tensions and of increasing the level of escalation. We see that. This requires we exert additional efforts. But let me say once again: it will not change the course of events. The special military operation will continue,” he stressed.

The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that the key task for Russia now was to continue the special military operation and, most importantly, “to fulfill the tasks that were formulated by the head of state.”

Asked if Moscow was considering the possibility of negotiations at the highest level not with Kiev, but with Washington against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine, Peskov said: “For now, there are no plans for negotiations between Putin and Biden.”

Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing two anonymous US officials that the US was preparing to extend to Ukraine a $2.2-billion military aid package that is expected to include longer-range missiles for the first time.
