MOSCOW- The operations of the so-called international anti-ISIS coalition led by the United States are further destabilizing and complicating the military, political and humanitarian situation in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday, according to Itar Tass.
Zakharova drew attention to the statement by a spokesperson for the Beirut Amnesty International office who said that the United States is ignoring possible losses among civilians in Syria.
“We fear the US-led Coalition is significantly underestimating the harm caused to civilians in its operations in Syria,” Zakharova said.
“Analysis of available evidence suggests that in each of these cases, Coalition forces failed to take adequate precautions to minimize harm to civilians and damage to civilian objects. Some of these attacks may constitute disproportionate or otherwise indiscriminate attacks,” she added
According to Amnesty International, eleven coalition air strikes since September 2014 have killed at least 300 civilians in Syria.
It is time the United States authorities completely recognize the damage the coalition strikes are doing to the civilian population, Zakharova said.
Russia has nothing to do with Syria’s Idlib school attack
The Russian diplomat went on to say that Russia calls on international organizations to immediately investigate the killing of 20 school children in Syria’s Idlib.
“We demand that all international organizations join the investigation without further delay,” the diplomat said.
Zakharova stressed Russia has nothing to do with the attack.
A number of mass media were quick to blame the tragedy on the Russian aerospace group. “Russia has nothing to do with that terrible tragedy, with that attack,” Zakharova said.
Russia concerned over UN failure to evacuate wounded
The diplomat went on to say that Moscow is concerned over the lack of efficient steps of the United Nations on evacuating the sick and wounded people from eastern Aleppo in Syria.
“We are concerned as the team of the UN humanitarian coordinator in Syria lacks efficient measures on arranging medical evacuation of wounded and sick people from Aleppo,” Zakharova said.
The diplomat reminded that several days ago a humanitarian pause was introduced in Aleppo to reduce tensions and allow civilians to leave the area. “However, the terrorists did everything to prevent the exit of civilians and members of gang groups from eastern Aleppo.” “Besides, the gunmen who are active near Aleppo continue receiving arms and ammunition.”
