US, Israel Shouldn’t Think that Golan Will One Day Be Part of a Malicious Deal: Al-Jaafari

NEW YORK, (ST)-The occupied Syrian Golan will return and both US and Israel shouldn’t think that a Syrian land will one day be part of a malicious deal, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari has stressed.

He made the remarks during a Security Council session held on Wednesday to discuss US President Donald Trump’s illegal declaration on occupied Syrian Golan.

He said that “while we are meeting to discuss Trump’s illegitimate declaration on the occupied Syrian Golan,  the Israeli occupation warplanes launched a missile aggression on an industrial zone to northeast of Aleppo.” He noted that the Syrian air defenses intercepted the missiles and downed a number of them.”

Al-Jaafari went on to say that Syria condemns Trump’s Golan move and considers it as a unilateral behavior by a party that doesn’t have the political, moral or legal capacity to decide the future of peoples or the fate of a land that is an integral part of the Syrian territory.

Trump’s Declaration is nothing but a unilateral behavior  that has no legal or political effect, but it is a clear acknowledgment that the US administration gives no more importance to the United Nations and that it doesn’t recognize international legitimacy resolutions anymore, al-Jaafari said, adding that Washington, by doing so, also and hinder efforts to attain just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and the world, thereby ending its role as a mediator in any Middle East peace process and leading to escalation and confrontation in the entire world.

He pointed out that the American behavior reflects a dangerous and an unprecedented tendency towards undermining the international law as well as insulting the United Nations and paying no heed to Security Council resolutions regarding the inevitability of ending Israel’s occupation of the Arab territories and attaining its withdrawal to the June 4th, 1967 line.

The senior Syrian diplomat pointed out that  Syria’s high appreciates the international stances on the US administration’s irresponsible declaration and sees that the statements issued by most governments of the world’s countries are an important move that proves to the world public opinion the isolation of the US and Israel and exposes their violations against international legitimacy and their threats to international peace and security.

He clarified that the US administration keeps protecting the Israeli occupation authorities through diverting attention from the real danger threatening international peace and security because of the continuity of this occupation and through creating conflicts based on illusive dangerous sectarian principles that lead to prolonging the sate of instability in the Middle East.

Al-Jaafari responded to representative of the Israeli occupation entity by saying that 14 Security Council members out of 15 have dealt a blow to Israel by rejecting the unilateral American move regarding the occupied Syrian Golan, because it violates Security Council resolutions 242, 338 and 497.

He made it clear that Syria has been engaged in the Mideast peace process, but the Israeli envoy doesn’t know that “ex-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin had handed us via the former US Foreign Minister Warren Christopher a letter, referred to as “Rabin Deposit”, in which he acknowledged that Golan is a Syrian land with the borders of June 4th, 1967..but Rabin was assassinated, because the Israeli occupation doesn’t want peace.
