US Has ‘Nothing to Say’ About Daesh Oil Incomes – Russian Lawmaker

After Washington said Daesh is not selling very much illegal oil, it still cannot explain how the terrorists are receiving their oil income, a Russian lawmaker said.

In their attempts to back Turkey, the US has underestimated the role of oil trafficking by Daesh (also known as ISIL) and has kept silent about how the terrorist group receives its oil incomes, Russian lawmaker Alexei Pushkov said, according to the Sputnik News.

“Saying that Daesh smuggles only a small amount of oil, the US cannot explain where its oil incomes come from. They have said nothing,” Pushkov wrote on Twitter.

The lawmaker also commented on the words by US General Joseph Dunford. The general said that after the airstrikes against Daesh oil facilities, the terrorist group lost 43 percent of their oil income. But he forgot to explain who was buying the oil, Pushkov noted.

After crossing the Syrian-Turkish border, tanker trucks carrying illegal oil move to Turkish ports, and then the oil is transported by sea to other countries for refining, the Russian Defense Ministry said last week.

As evidence, the ministry provided satellite images showing alleged tanker trucks moving from Daesh-seized areas to Turkey.
