US Decision to Resume Funding for “White Helmets” Blatant Embodiment of Its Support for Terrorism in Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the US Administration’s recent decision to provide some $6.6 million to fund the “White Helmets” terrorist organization which has close links with terrorists in Syria.

The Syrian Arab Republic condemns the US decision and considers it as a blatant embodiment of the financial support given by the United States, France, Britain and other countries to different forms of the terrorism which Syria has been facing since 2011, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

It affirmed that the US and some Western countries have used the “White Helmets” as a tool for practicing terrorism, particularly the chemical terrorism in a bid to distort Syria’s image and prolong the terrorist war on the country, pointing out that all have realized that the “White Helmets” is the main arm of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization which killed a lot of innocent Syrians.

The ministry clarified that the US funding for the “White Helmets” has uncovered Washington’s relation with a terrorist organization and this goes in contradiction with Washington’s claims about fighting terrorism and with the Security Council resolutions which affirm that Jabhat al-Nusra and all its affiliated groups should be fought.
