US, Britain, France Encouraged Terrorist Organizations in Syria to Use Toxic Chemicals in Attacks against Civilians
DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has stressed that the US, Britain and France have encouraged terrorist organizations fighting the Syrian government to use toxic chemical materials in attacks against civilians in Khan sheikhoun, Douma, Aleppo and most recently in al-Raseef Village in the north of Hama province, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA on Saturday, pointing out that statements made by US, British and French officials aim at covering up future terrorist chemical attacks orchestrated by these regimes.
“The foreign ministers of the United States, Britain and France continue their dirty and cheap propaganda war and aggressive policies against Syria in order to drive suspicion away from the support these countries are providing to their terrorist tools which have been committing crimes of killing and destruction in the Syrian Arab Republic as to achieve their malicious goals in dominating the Arab region and subjugating it to colonialist policies,” said the source, regretting Germany’s joining of these misleading and disinformation campaigns.
In a joint statement on 5 April, the United States, United Kingdom and France said that they are committed to holding the perpetrators of alleged chemical attacks in the Syrian towns of Douma and Khan Sheikhoun responsible for their actions. They again accused the Syrian government of allegedly attacking its citizens, according to Sputnik.
“The weapons and the huge amount of money these countries have provided to terrorist groups in Syria, including the millions of dollars given to the so called “White Helmets” organization, a main tool of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization’s crimes, are the biggest evidence about the open lying practiced by these countries through their foreign ministers”, the source added.
The source pointed out that over the past years and months, Syria has provided the Security Council and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) with information about the conspiracies being hatched by the intelligence bodies of these countries and their agents in the region in order deliver chemical weapons to terrorist groups in Syria as to be used against civilians and later accuse the Syrian state of committing crimes against its own citizens.
“These countries, which have actually used chemical weapons in their former colonies and against peoples who struggled for freedom, sovereignty and independence, don’t have the moral capacity to accuse the Syrian Arab Republic of such crimes,” said the source.
The source went on to say that the US repeated use of white phosphorus bombs to kill civilians in Deir Ezzour and its destruction of Syrian cities and villages, including Raqqa, provide the biggest evidence about western countries’ shameful behavior.
The source asserted that Syria categorically rejects the use of chemical weapons anywhere, anytime and under any circumstance. This has been proved through its accession to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and fulfilling all its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Syria condemns the American, British and French threats and policies which aim at undermining the goals, for which the OPCW was established, and at using this organization to serve their malicious interests, the source concluded.
