US attempts to enhance its illegal military presence around oil fields in Syria’s northeastern region “unacceptable”

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin has stressed that the United States’ attempt to enhance its illegal military presence in the vicinity of the oil fields in Syria’s northeastern region is “unacceptable” and violates international law.

In a statement to journalists on Tuesday, Vershinin said that his country supports dialogue among all components of the Syrian people.

Washington is trying to continue playing its colonialist role in Syria and the region through the presence of its troops that are looting and smuggling Syrian oil.

 The Russian defense ministry recently published images showing a convoy of oil tank trucks smuggling stolen Syrian oil under the protection of US military servicemen.
