US attacks on the Syrian-Iraqi border region serve the remnants of ISIS terrorists, says Tehran

Tehran, (ST)  – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that the repeated US attacks on the Syrian-Iraqi border area target the main fighters against terrorism and serve and strengthen the remnants of the terrorist organization “ISIS”.

In an interview with reporters today, Khatibzadeh said that, “Iran always stresses that the language of force and threat will not serve security and stability in the region. The United States must realize that it will not achieve its goals in the region through arrogance and bullying, he added.”

In another context, Khatibzadeh said that the Vienna talks witnessed progress with the agreement of all parties. He pointed out that the remaining important issues need to be decided by the other parties, especially America.

Khatibzadeh indicated that Iran’s negotiating team strives to bring the negotiations to a conclusion that will lead to the lifting of the unjust ban on the Iranian people. He pointed out that Iran will not set a time limit, but rather that its goal is to reach an agreement that achieves the interests of the people and the country.

He stressed that Iran’s position on the nuclear agreement and lifting the embargo is a principled position, and therefore these positions will not change by changing the government and will abide by the agreement if it is signed.

On the other hand, Khatibzadeh affirmed Iran’s rejection of the Zionist entity’s attempts to obtain membership in the African Union as an observer, calling on the member states of the Union to affirm their political will to commit to supporting the Palestinian cause. He also called for adhering to the decisions of international organizations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding opposing any measure granting membership or positions to the Zionist entity in organizations international and regional.
