US Anti-Syria Claims of Chemical Weapons Use Aim at Justifying a Possible Aggression on Syria

MOSCOW, (ST)- Claims being promoted by the United States and its allies on the use of chemical weapons in Syria have been uncovered before the world public opinion, Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem has stressed, pointing out that they aim at justifying a possible aggression on Syria.

“Last April the US, Britain and France launched a tripartite aggression against Syria over an alleged chemical weapons attack against the city of Douma even before the investigation team arrived in the area. This aggression proved that the accusations against Syria of using chemical weapons are nothing but a pretext to justify the aggression and that the united States is not concerned in any investigation that doesn’t serve its policies,”  al-Moallem said in an interviewed with the “Russia24” channel.

 The US escalation won’t affect the morale of the Syrian people and the plans of the Syrian army to liberate Idleb and completely uproot terrorism from Syria, al-Moallem added.

He reiterated that the American presence in Syria is illegal and the United States can’t justify it in any way. Though Washington affirmed to Russia that it will withdraw from al-Tanf area, it didn’t keep its promise, rather it is now training armed groups of different names.

The American presence has caused thousands of Syrian civilian deaths and provided protection to Daesh terrorist organization every time it was besieged by the Syrian army, he said, pointing out that it has become clear that Washington’s main goal has been to prolong the crisis in Syria to serve Israel’s interests.

“We, as Syrian people and leadership, hope that the crisis ends today, but foreign intervention, led by America, hinders this,” he asserted.

Syria is keen on helping displaced Syrians return home

The Syrian top diplomat also said that the Syrian government is sparing no effort  as to help displaced citizens voluntarily return home and it is doing its best to meet decent life requirements for the returnees. He further noted the great efforts exerted by Damascus in cooperation with Moscow in this regard in the light of the recent return of more than 20,000 displaced Syrians for Lebanon

 He affirmed that “the West is hindering the return of displaced Syrians aiming to use this file to exert pressure on the Syrian government in the process of final settlement of the crisis.”

All-Moallem said that his visit to Moscow was positive as it embodied the joint will of the two friendly countries to intensify coordination, consultation and cooperation to reach strategic partnership.

Syria reconstruction process is a golden opportunity for Russian companies

Regarding the reconstruction process in Syria, al-Moallem said reconstruction in Syria is a golden opportunity for Russian companies to embody the Syrian-Russian cooperation, since priority in reconstruction will be given to the friendly countries which have supported Syria  in its war against takfiri terrorism.
