Washington, (ST) – The United States announced the completion of the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan, after twenty years of occupying this country under the pretext of the war against terrorism that it created after the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The United States completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan, ending America’s longest war and closing a chapter in military history likely to be remembered for colossal failures, unfulfilled promises and a frantic final exit that cost the lives of more than 180 Afghans.
Reuters reported that, the commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, announced the completion of the withdrawal in a press briefing by the Ministry of Defense, “Pentagon”, after sending the last forces to evacuate Americans from the capital, Kabul, after the Taliban movement seized power.
According to observers, the decision to withdraw the US came as a result of Washington’s failure to achieve its plans in Afghanistan twenty years after its invasion.
