Updates on treatment and diagnosis at the conference of the Syrian Society of Ophthalmologists

The themes of the 39th conference of the Syrian Society of Ophthalmologists and Eye Surgery, which started today, focused on strabismus, eye diseases in children, plastic and refractive surgery, retinal and corneal problems, glaucoma and cataracts.

The agenda of the conference, located at the Ebla Hotel in Damascus and scheduled to  continue until the 25th of this month, includes 94 scientific lectures and a presentation of a number of studies, research and clinical cases through 17 sessions with the participation of Arab and foreign doctors.

In his inauguration speech, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabash, referred to the role of conferences in exchanging experiences, information and ideas, and learning about the new in ophthalmology in terms of modern research and development of treatment methods and ways to improve performance to provide the best services to patients.

Dr. Al-Ghabash pointed out that the number of hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health that provide in-kind services reached 13, including 3 specialized in ophthalmology and surgery, which provided more than 20,000 services during the first quarter of this year, and there are many health centers that provide treatment and diagnostic services related to ophthalmology. Attention has been drawn to the importance of external participation in exchanging experiences. The topics of the conference’s lectures and sessions are rich and varied to include the most prominent issues related to the newness of this specialty.
