The spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Adnan Abu Hasna, has warned of the spread of diseases and epidemics in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the enormous humanitarian needs there, especially with the onset of winter.
“The needs are enormous in the Gaza Strip, especially with the onset of the winter season, which requires the provision of medicines and fuel, in addition to clothes and blankets, in large quantities.” RT reported Abu Hasna as saying on Sunday.
The spokesman considered the aid entering the Gaza Strip as “a drop in the ocean of humanitarian needs,” whether during the temporary truce or after it, expressing fears of the spread of diseases.
The Director of the UNRWA in Gaza, Thomas White, revealed in statements on Saturday that one of the UN agency’s schools in the Palestinian Strip is witnessing an outbreak of “Hepatitis A”.
In turn, the Director-General of the World Health Organization WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, called for resuming basic aid supplies to Gaza immediately, reiterating the warning that overcrowding resulting from the mass population displacement and unsafe living conditions in Gaza increase the risk of disease.
