UNRWA says 200 of its employees martyred, 50 percent of its institutions in Gaza have been completely destroyed

Cairo,(ST)- The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, announced that about 200 employees of the agency have been martyred since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

Lazzarini said during a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati today in Cairo that 50 percent of the agency’s institutions were destroyed in Gaza, and more than 500 people were killed while they were in its headquarters.

He pointed out that Gaza today faces the risk of losing an entire generation in education and losing a better future in the strip after the majority of schools were destroyed.

Lazzarini pointed out that about 250,000 people were displaced from the city of Khan Yunis in the south of Gaza Strip for the sixth or seventh time, and that there is no safe place in Gaza.

A few days ago, Lazzarini stressed the need to reach the long-awaited ceasefire agreement in Gaza Strip without any further delay.
