UNRWA: One in three children under two in Gaza suffers from acute malnutrition

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned of the spread of acute malnutrition and famine among children  in the Gaza Strip as a result of the siege and brutal Israeli aggression that has continued for months.

“Malnutrition among children is spreading rapidly and reaching unprecedented levels in Gaza, as one out of every three children under the age of two in the north of the city now suffers from acute malnutrition” Reuters quoted the agency as saying in a post on social media

Gaza hospitals reported that some children are dying from malnutrition and dehydration.

Reports indicate that more than five months after the launching  of the Israeli aggression, a large part of the Gaza Strip is now in ruins, with most of its 2.3 million residents forced to flee the Israeli bombing and facing a major humanitarian crisis.

The International Body to Monitor Food Insecurity is expected to soon submit a report on the extent of the hunger crisis in Gaza, after it said last December that there was a risk of famine occurring before next May.
