Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini confirmed that more than 300,000 Palestinian students in the agency’s schools in Gaza Strip are deprived of education as a result of the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression which has been continuous since last October.
Wafa News Agency on Wednesday quoted Lazzarini as saying: “More than 300,000 girls and boys in the agency’s schools suddenly stopped their education, and they are facing a horrific war. Schools in northern Gaza were severely damaged or completely destroyed, and became in a state of ruin due to the brutal war.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Education announced yesterday that 5,213 students were martyred and 8,691 were injured in Gaza Strip since the start of the aggression, while 351 schools, including 65 belonging to UNRWA, were bombed and vandalized.
“This matter led to the complete destruction of 40 of these schools and causing severe damage to 111 others, which caused 620,000 students to be unable to enroll in their schools, and most of them suffer from psychological trauma and face difficult health and humanitarian conditions”, the ministry added.
