Universal condemnation of the US-Israeli “Deal of the Century”

Demonstration in front of the American Embassy in Beirut protesting against the so- called “Deal of the Century”

BEIRUT, (ST)- A number of demonstrators rallied in front of the US Embassy in Beirut on Sunday to protest against the so-called “Deal of the Century” announced last week by US President Donald Trump.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, the protestors lifted the Lebanese and Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the US administration’s policies.  They affirmed that the Palestinian cause will continue to be the central cause of the Arabs and that this US-Israeli conspiracy will be foiled by the will and resistance of the Palestinian people.

The demonstration was held amid strict security measures. All the roads leading to the embassy were closed and barbed wire was placed on the main road hundreds of meters far from the embassy.

Some of the demonstrators managed to bypass the barbed wire and reach the iron door blocking the way to the Embassy.

The Lebanese security forces fired tear gas bombs to disperse the demonstrators, causing the injury of a number of them.

Demonstrations in West Bank and Gaza

In occupied al-Quds, thousands of Palestinians from several cities in the West Bank and the besieged Gaza strip took part in demonstrations protesting against the ill-famed “Deal of the Century” and the US complete bias towards the Israeli occupation.

Palestinian media outlets said the demonstrations started from the towns of al-Khalil, Bethlehem, Nablus, Qalqilya, Jericho Jenin, Salfeet and Toulkarm. Slogans called for unity among the Palestinians and for carrying on the path of resistance to put an end to occupation and restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Demonstrators called on the international community to implement the international  legitimacy resolutions which affirm the Palestinian people’s right to liberate their lands and establish their independent state with al-Quds (Jerusalem) as a capital

In Gaza, angry demonstrators took to the streets lifting the Palestinian flags as well as placards stressing the Palestinian people’s rejection of the “Deal of the Century” and reiterating their adherence to national principles and legitimate rights.

They reiterated that Palestine is not for sale.

In Amman, Jordanian parliamentary blocs stressed during a session on Sunday that the so-called “Deal of the Century” is null and void and is unacceptable, emphasizing the need to unify the internal front in order to face the Zionist schemes that threaten peace in the region.

The parliamentarians expressed their rejection of any settlement at the expense of the Palestinian cause or the rights of the Palestinian people.

Patriarch al-Rahi: “Deal of the Century” a blow to the United Nations and Security Council

In the same contest, the Maronite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi said that the so-called “Deal of the Century” is an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause and a blow to the United Nations and the Security Council and to the resolutions they adopted since 1948.

He called on the international community to commit itself to implementing the resolutions of the Security Council and UN General Assembly on solving the Palestinian cause.

On his part, Member of the Lebanese Parliament Shamel Roukoz said that the US-Israeli deal of the century is an attempt to judaise all of Palestine, reiterating that the only way left for the Palestinian people to defend their homeland is through resistance and uprising.

Kremlin: “Deal of the Century” contradicts the Security Council resolutions

The Kremlin spokesman Dimitry Peskov has stressed that the so-called “Deal of the Century” contradicts the Security Council resolutions on the Palestinian cause.

The plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump contravenes several United Nations resolutions; Russian news agencies cited Peskov as saying on Sunday, questioning the plan’s feasibility, particularly in the light of the Palestinians’ refusal to this plan.

He stressed that Washington didn’t have any consultations with Russia on the announced plan, affirming Moscow’s firm stance on the need to establish an independent Palestinian cause within the borders of 1967.
