United States seeks to inflict maximum damage on Russia, says Antonov

Washington, (ST) – Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that behind Washington’s actions is a desire to delay the special operation in Ukraine to protect Donbass by any means.

“Obviously, behind the actions of Washington lies the desire to drag out the Russian special operation by any means, trying to inflict maximum damage on Russia, and to fight to the last Ukrainian”, Antonov said, according to RT.

According to the ambassador, the United States wants to maintain a hotbed of instability in Europe, “thereby rallying Western allies around itself in order to maintain the position of the United States on the world stage.”

Commenting on the White House’s intention to request additional appropriations from Congress to ensure an uninterrupted flow of weapons to Ukraine, Antonov  asked whether it would be better “to use these funds for ordinary Americans who are hit by record inflation in their country.
