United Nations Welcomes Trump’s Decision to Lift Sanctions on Syria

Geir Pedersen, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria.

According to a report from the United Nations News website, Pedersen stated in a press release today that this aligns with his ongoing call for meaningful action in this regard.

He added that Syrians, both within Syria and in the diaspora, are calling for a broad and urgent easing of sanctions.

The UN official emphasized the importance of this move to facilitate the provision of essential services, including health and education, revitalize the Syrian economy, unleash meaningful support from the region, and enable Syrians to actively contribute to the national effort to rebuild Syria.
