New York (ST): The United Nations welcomed Syria’s extension of its permission to use the Bab al-Salama and al-Rai crossings to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need for a period of three months, ending on the 13th of next November.

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, said during a press conference in New York: We received a message from the Syrian government stating the extension of the opening of the Bab al-Salama and al-Rai crossings, and we warmly welcome this decision, which allows us to continue our tasks, to bring in humanitarian aid until the 13th of November.

Syria announced earlier the extension of the authorization of the United Nations and its specialized agencies to use the Bab al-Salama and al-Rai crossings for a period of three months, based on Syria’s keenness to enhance stability, improve the humanitarian and living conditions of all Syrians and continue its efforts to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to those in need in all Syrian regions.
