United Nations warns of the consequences of the Israeli escalation against Lebanon

The UN expressed its deep concern over the escalation of Israeli enemy’s aggression against Lebanon, warning of its consequences and repercussions.

France Press Agency quoted the spokeswoman for the UN Human Rights office, Ravina Shamdasani as saying :” We are very concerned about the escalation in Lebanon and the bombings of communication devices and pagers”.

Shamdasani stressed that committing acts of violence that aim at spreading terror among civilians is a war crime, stressing that the simultaneous targeting of thousands of individuals is unacceptable under international law.

She continued:” what we have been warning against is the expansion of the war in the region and its transfer to another level”. She referred to the calls from international community demanding an end to the escalation.

Last Friday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, condemned the bombings of communication devices in Lebanon, stressing that they are a violation of international law.
